Commission reports on twelfth negotiation round with five Eastern and Southern African countries to deepen existing Economic Partnership Agreement

The European Commission has published a report summarising progress made during the latest negotiation round to deepen the existing Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) with five Eastern and Southern African partners.

As part of its transparency commitments, the European Commission has published the report summarising progress made during the latest negotiation round to deepen the existing Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) with five Eastern and Southern African partners (ESA5): Comoros, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles and Zimbabwe.

The twelfth negotiation round took place in Brussels from 26-30 June 2023. This round included discussions at both technical and senior-official level on all open thematic parts covered by these negotiations. This round allowed for the provisional conclusion of the 'Partnership in Agriculture' chapter (the third one in this process) and substantive progress on other topics.

The next round is scheduled to take place by the end of 2023 in the ESA5 region.
