Promoting open trade policy in challenging times

A meeting with civil society in the context of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

EU-based civil society organisations are invited to attend this meeting on 'Promoting open trade policy in challenging times', organised jointly by the European Commission and the Spanish Government under the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

In the framework of the EU’s trade strategy based on openness, sustainability and assertiveness, Commission Executive Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis and Spanish Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism Héctor Gómez Hernández will discuss with participants the importance of promoting open trade to pursue sustainable and inclusive economic growth.

They will focus on how the EU can continue to strengthen the multilateral trade order and to improve its bilateral trade relations in these challenging times.

The meeting will be moderated by Marta Carazo, Brussels correspondent of TVE. Participants will be able to ask the keynote speakers questions.

Interpretation from and into English and Spanish will be made available. 

This event will take place in Valencia. Registered participants can attend either in person or online.

Travel costs from within the EU will be reimbursed by the European Commission. Participants from EU civil society organisations based outside Valencia who wish to participate in person can ask for their return travel expenses to be covered.
