The definitive anti-dumping duties imposed range from 56% to 60%. They will be in place for five years.

The imposition of the definitive duties results from an investigation which found that imports of candles, tapers and the like from China are entering the EU at dumped prices. This is causing injury to the EU’s industry, which employs some 9,000 people in around 80 companies across the European Union.

In the EU market of an estimated 620,000 tonnes (worth around €1,700 million), imports amount to 170,000 tonnes, of which around 140,000 tonnes originate in China.

Candles – which produce heat and light – are widely used for interior decoration, for example in candle holders or other decorative items, or for outdoor decorative purposes.
