Background

Strengthening the resilience of critical supply chains is an important part of the EU’s economic security agenda, as highlighted in the Communication on strengthening EU economic security. Excessive reliance on a limited number of suppliers or countries can create vulnerabilities, disrupt economic activity, and increase uncertainty and costs for European businesses.

The EU supports more resilient and diversified supply chains through a range of policies and tools, including its network of free trade agreements.

In this context, Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič’s third implementation dialogue is dedicated to supply-chain resilience and diversification, with a focus on the challenges and opportunities facing European businesses.
