Cosentino is a family-owned Spanish business specialised in the production of innovative surfaces for the fields of architecture and design. It started life in 1940 as a processor of marble from the famous quarries at Macael in Andalusia.
Today the company exports its products to more than 80 countries around the world and generates 90% of its turnover from exports.
By eliminating customs duties and administrative burdens, the 2000 EU-Mexico trade deal has helped Cosentino to increase its exports to Mexico by 20% over the last five years. Their value reached €10 million in 2015.
The company currently employs 3 500 people, half of whom are based in Spain. International demand has ensured that that number keeps growing and has also supported Cosentino’s research and development. It recently launched Dekton, an ultra-compact surface with the potential to revolutionise architecture and design.
Cosentino has shared the benefits of its international success with the local community. The company is actively involved in various social programmes aimed at cutting youth unemployment and boosting economic and cultural development in the province of Almería.
