Beef it up!
Biernacki has been exporting quality beef products to Japan since 2015 and warmly welcomes the tariff reductions brought about by the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA). The EPA has given a powerful boost to the company’s sales in Japan.
Biernacki is a founder-owned company with over 30 years of experience. The company is the leading beef producer in Poland and exports beef products to over 60 countries in Europe, Africa, and Asia.
Vertical integration and sustainability
The key to the company's success in Japan is its vertical integration. It largely operates its own farms and controls all stages of the production and packaging processes, enabling it to ensure consistent quality of cattle and beef and to meet high-volume contracts with specific requirements.
Sustainability is key for Biernacki, including a strong focus on animal welfare, the use of green energy, and the use of animal waste for energy production.
Tariffs matter!
The progressive reductions of import tariffs on beef brought in by the EU-Japan EPA are significantly benefitting Biernacki’s exports and its position in the Japanese market.
The EPA gave us an enormous boost and contributed immensely to the fast development of our success in Japan. The growth in Japan we have achieved since the entry into force of the EPA in 2019 is considerable.
Tomasz Kubik,
CEO, ZPM Biernacki
After overcoming some initial issues, selling to Japan gave the company a unique opportunity to learn a different approach and reach another level of customer care and partnership. Over the past few years, the EPA tariff benefits have played an important role in stabilising Biernacki’s sales to Japan in the face of pressures from the Covid-19 pandemic and a weak Japanese yen.
Quality and innovation
Biernacki values a high-quality market such as Japan, which is a very demanding market that encourages innovation. This innovation in turn benefits domestic sales in Poland and in Europe. In the same spirit, the Biernacki team welcomes the inspections and audits by the Japanese authorities as they help maintain or even improve the quality of Biernacki’s products worldwide.
